Founder & CEO, Hilary’s Wheels of Hope

Hi, I’m Hilary — the proud Founder and CEO of Hilary’s Wheels of Hope! Creating this company has been a dream of mine for many years. I was born with cerebral palsy, and I’m the third of five siblings — including my twin, who also has CP.

My college journey was truly life-changing. During my time at Cloud County Community College and Kansas State University, I was faced with a challenge that would shape who I am today. Because my parents lived two hours away, I had to take full responsibility for managing my academics and coordinating my personal care needs.

No one handed me a roadmap. No one said, “Here’s how to hire your care team” or “Here’s how to balance everything.” I had to figure it out — through trial, error, and perseverance. I learned how to get up early, stay organized, and advocate for myself. I learned how to interview personal care attendants, describe my needs clearly, and manage a team — all while keeping up with classes, deadlines, and the day-to-day responsibilities of college life.

It wasn’t easy. There were moments I wanted to give up. But those challenges built my strength and passion — and ultimately inspired the creation of Hilary’s Wheels of Hope. I wanted to build something that helps other students with disabilities navigate both their academic and personal care needs, guided by someone who’s been there and truly understands.

My goal is simple: to help students maintain their independence, embrace their potential, and realize that they are capable of absolutely anything they set their minds to.
