About Hilary’s Wheels of Hope

Deciding to go to college is a big deal. Add to that the additional challenges of life with a disability, and things can feel very uncertain. At Hilary’s Wheels of Hope, we believe all students with disabilities have the ability to succeed academically while independently maintaining their personal needs.

Founded by advocate and mentor Hilary Faye Garrett, our mission is to help individuals with disabilities discover their unique strengths, overcome obstacles, and embrace all the excitement that college life offers.

Whether through one-on-one mentorship, advocacy, or speaking engagements, we’re here to remind everyone that their story matters and that achieving their goals is possible.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

The name Hilary’s Wheels of Hope carries deep meaning and personal significance. The word “Hope” reflects the biblical definition—“The sure and confident expectation of receiving what God has promised us in the future.”

As Romans 8:24–25 reminds us:

“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all.
Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have,
we wait for it patiently.”

To Hilary, the word Wheels symbolizes both her personal journey with cerebral palsy and the forward motion of perseverance, faith, and purpose.

Together, Hilary's Wheels of Hope represents movement toward independence, opportunity, and the fulfillment of every student’s potential.

Hilary’s Wheels of Hope is a consulting and mentorship-based organization focused on helping others with disabilities. However, shared beliefs are never required—students and partners of all backgrounds are welcomed and supported in meeting their goals and independence needs.
